William Bone founded Sunrise Company in 1963 and is Chairman of the Board and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Sunrise Company. He is a nationally recognized expert in resort residential, hotel and recreation development having developed 13 country club communities, built over 20 golf courses, constructed more than 16,000 homes, built two resort hotels and developed numerous office buildings, shopping centers, apartments and commercial hotels. Mr. Bone is frequently sought as a speaker on how to successfully design, develop and market these types of real estate projects. Born in Bakersfield, California, Mr. Bone received a B.A. in economics from Stanford University in 1963 and an M.B.A. with Distinction from The Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration in 1965.

In 2003, Mr. Bone received the “Legends” Award from the National Association of Home Builders. In 1992 he was inducted into the California Building Industry Association Hall of Fame and also received the College of the Desert’s Alumni Association Hall of Fame award for community leadership. In June 1991, Mr. Bone was honored by the Desert Area, Riverside County Chapter of the Building Industry Association for his extraordinary contribution to post-secondary educational opportunities for the Coachella Valley residents. In addition to being selected 1991 Citizen of the Year by the Boy Scouts, Mr. Bone was awarded the Palm Springs Life Magazine’s Builder of the Decade in 1988.
As Chief Executive Officer of Sunrise Company, Randall Bone brings more than 20 years of hands-on experience in the development of more than $2.5 billion dollars in real estate development projects including highly successful residential communities, commercial and multifamily development. Beginning his career in construction, Mr. Bone has moved through the critical path of project management, finance and new project start ups, building extensive experience in each aspect of the project development cycle and providing hands-on, detail oriented leadership and an ongoing commitment to the “Evolution of Excellence” which is responsible for the success of Sunrise’s distinctive, award winning communities and homes.
Mr. Bone is a Trustee of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), past member of ULI’s Board of Directors and past Chairman of ULI’s Recreational Development Council. Mr. Bone is the founding Chapter Chair of the Aspen Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO). Mr. Bone is a member of the Board of the Aspen Institute’s Vanguard Society of Fellows and is a member of the Board of Aspen Country Day School in Aspen, Colorado.
Mr. Bone graduated Cum Laude from the University of California at Los Angeles with dual B.A. degrees in Economics and Philosophy, with departmental honors, while minoring in Physics. Mr. Bone later received his M.B.A. with High Distinction as a Baker Scholar from The Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration.
Phillip K. Smith, Jr., is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Sunrise Company. Mr. Smith leads the development of Toscana Country Club and is responsible for the Coachella Valley Division in the Palm Springs desert resort area of Southern California . He also serves as a member of the Company’s senior management team and provides direction on legal affairs, risk management, community development issues and other aspects of the business.
Before joining Sunrise Company in 1980, Mr. Smith was a partner in the Los Angeles law firm of Greenberg, Glusker, Fields, Claman & Machtinger where he specialized in the legal aspects of real estate development and was a member of the Management Committee.
Mr. Smith is a member of the Urban Land Institute and board member and past president of the Desert Valleys Builders Association. He is a Trustee of the Family YMCA of the Desert, a Director of Indian Wells Town Hall, The Living Desert and The Coachella Valley Economic Partnership. Mr. Smith received a B.A. Magna Cum Laude in International Relations from the University of California at Los Angeles and a J.D. from Stanford University School of Law.
Dirk Gosda is the President of Sunrise Company’s Southwest/Mountain Region. In addition to being responsible for overall operations of Sunrise Company in the Southwest/Mountain Region, Mr. Gosda is also responsible for the acquisition of properties for Sunrise Company. Previously, Mr. Gosda served as the President of the Las Vegas and Houston Divisions for Sunrise and was instrumental in moving Sunrise into those new regions.
Before joining Sunrise Company in 1997, Mr. Gosda spent over ten years as Founder and President of Jesbet Corp., the managing partner in Northlake, a 1,600-acre land development project in Los Angeles County, California. While there, he was responsible for all aspects of pre-development engineering, land planning and successful entitlement of the property for a 3,983 unit, master-planned, golf course community.
During his career, Mr. Gosda has served in many civic, charitable and political capacities including Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Commissioner and President of the Castaic Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Board of Trustees for the Castaic Union School District and chaired the North County Transportation Coalition. Mr. Gosda has received numerous awards for his civic endeavors including the Melvin Jones Award from the Lion’s Club and Man of The Year in 1992 by the Castaic Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Gosda received a B.A. in Accounting from the University of Houston and a CPA. He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and Treasurer of the Snowmass Chapel Board of Trustees.
Jim Hinton is the Managing Principal of Sunrise Luxury Living and has over 35 years of experience in commercial real estate, focusing exclusively on multifamily assets for over 20 years. Before starting Sunrise Luxury Living, Mr. Hinton was the Senior Vice President of Real Estate Investments (REI) at Camden Property Trust, one of the largest public Real Estate Investment Trusts (REIT) in the United States. Mr. Hinton’s primary responsibilities included overseeing all facets of multifamily investments including, but not limited to, financing, development, acquisition and disposition of multifamily communities. Mr. Hinton also led the company to strategically acquire core land parcels for future development and/or commodity warehousing. Between 1993 and 2003 the REI team led by Mr. Hinton developed 58 projects totaling over 20,000 units with a value of over $2.2 billion. In 2003, Mr. Hinton also assumed responsibility for acquisitions and dispositions directly overseeing the REI team as it acquired and disposed of over $416 million in assets. Mr. Hinton has acquired, developed and sold properties in over 23 states in the United States.
Prior to joining Camden, Mr. Hinton was employed with J.E Roberts Co. acquiring real estate portfolios for the Goldman Sachs Whitehall Funds. Mr. Hinton received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in real estate finance from the University of Texas in 1978. He is a licensed real estate broker in the State of Texas and the State of California.
Shawn Baldwin is President of Sunrise Company’s Pacific Region and has an extensive background in residential real estate development and has served in various capacities of increasing responsibility for the Baldwin Companies and Pacific Coast Communities.
Specializing in single-family and master-plan development, he has crafted an expertise in the planning, design, construction and marketing of diverse product offerings, ranging from entry-level to move-up to luxury product segments. Shawn Baldwin established the Pacific Division of Sunrise Company to serve the Southern California markets of Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Inland Empire, and other emerging markets within this geographic area. His long term vision is to extend the quality of the Sunrise brand into complementary types of development such as retail, office and high density apartments.
Shawn is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and Young Presidents Organization (YPO). He is a graduate of the University of Southern California.
Paul K. Levy, is the President of Club Operations and Development for Sunrise Company. In addition, he serves as the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Toscana Country Club.
In November of 2016, he was elected to serve as President of the PGA of America the world’s largest working sports association. His election was the culmination of over thirty years of service and commitment to his association, the game and industry. In 2012, his journey to national office began as Secretary of the PGA of America followed by serving as Vice President until his election to President. Elected to PGA membership in June 1986, and Paul has served in a leadership capacity at both the Section and National levels since 1992. From 2004 to 2008, he was a member of the PGA Board of Control. Since 2010, Mr. Levy has served on the National PGA Employment Committee and on the PGA Member Relations Committee.
Serving as President of the Southern Texas PGA Section from 1998 to 2000, Paul has been a recipient of the 2000 Southern Texas PGA Golf Professional of the Year award, along with being a three-time Section PGA Junior Golf Leader recipient (1992, ’93, ’98); earning the 1999 Section Bill Strausbaugh Award; and the 1997 Section Merchandiser of the Year for public facilities.
From 1999 through 2004, Mr. Levy served as General Manager and PGA Director of Golf at Royal Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas. Later that year, he became Senior Vice President of Club Operations for Sunrise Company. In 2004, Mr. Levy moved to Southern California, where he now serves today as CEO and General Manager. In 2008, he became the President of Club Operations and Development.
In 1992, he founded PKL Golf Group Company, a golf management and development company, and served as its president and CEO. A native of New Orleans, Levy is a 1983 graduate of Louisiana State University, where he was a three-year member of the Tigers Golf Team.
Julie Bloom is the Vice President of Marketing for Sunrise Company and is responsible for strategic planning and driving marketing initiatives that include customer and brand strategy, media planning, digital platforms, CRM, creative and design development, marketing communications, public relations, events and partnerships. She also serves as a member of the Company’s senior management team and provides guidance on corporate communications, technology, market and consumer research, investor relations and data analytics.
Before joining Sunrise Company in 2001, Mrs. Bloom was employed by Goswick Advertising where she specialized in real estate development marketing. She brings a creative, technical and hands on approach to marketing the Sunrise communities. Mrs. Bloom is a graduate of Northern Illinois University and Clemson University, where she received a Masters degree.
Nancy Hayes is Vice President and Controller of Sunrise Company. Ms. Hayes oversees the accounting and financial management of all residential development and construction activities including Toscana Country Club in Indian Wells, California, Dancing Bear in Aspen, Colorado, and Sunrise Luxury Living projects, both completed and under construction.
Before joining Sunrise Company in 1998, Ms. Hayes spent nine years with the Del Webb Corporation, most recently as the Controller for the Southern California conventional homebuilding division. Her experience also included corporate financial reporting to shareholders and the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as public debt and equity offerings.
Ms. Hayes serves as the Major Gifts Co-Chair for the Family YMCA of the Desert and on the College of the Desert Accounting Advisory Committee. She is a graduate of Arizona State University, where she received a B.S. in Business Administration with an Accounting major. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.
Ann Stevenson is Vice President of Human Resources of Sunrise Company. Ms. Stevenson is responsible for the development of policies, directing and coordinating human resources activities, such as employment, compensation, employee relations, benefits, training, and employee services. Ms. Stevenson joined Sunrise in 1987 as the Payroll Administrator and was responsible for compensation, benefits and risk insurance. In 1998, she relocated to Las Vegas and assumed the title of Director of Human Resources and was responsible for all human resources and payroll activities. She returned to the corporate office in Palm Desert, CA in 2006.
Prior to joining Sunrise, Ms. Stevenson was employed by Kaiser Steel Corporation for 13 years. Her last position with Kaiser Steel was Treasury Consultant where she was responsible for pension funds, maintenance of real estate holdings and overseeing payroll and benefits. While employed at Kaiser, Ms. Stevenson held the positions of Payroll Manager, Payroll Specialist, Personnel Representative and Recreation Assistant. Prior to working at Kaiser Steel, Ann was a substitute teacher for the Fontana Unified School District for one year. Ann has a Bachelor’s Degree from Cal Poly, Pomona where she graduated with honors.
